Budget Grow Box

Feel stuck at home? Nothing to do? Here’s a fun project if you would like to have a go at gardening indoors 🙂

Something I whipped up quickly today with items found around the house and shed. Still got to fit the fan. Not the flashest but if you are stuck at home and don’t have a lot of options this is a good start. Yes this works as it has been done in the past with success.

Please Note: This is for fun and educational purposes to alleviate bordem while being stuck at home all day. Enjoy! (No cannabis has been grown in this box).

Step One: screw bulb fitting to a small piece of wood and run wires to a power supply. I am using a 12v supply for this setup.

Step Two: Insert light bulb. I am using a 12v LED bulb here which is not the best option for lighting but does work to get a single plant growing.

Step Three: Screw the piece of wood across the top of a cardboard box that is the same width as the piece of wood.

Step Four: Fit a small computer fan to create air flow once your plant starts growing. (Not fitted yet in this photo).

Step Four: Use a potplant pot that will fit in the box. I have chosen a nice deep pot so the roots can grow deep.

Leave your light running for 24 hours while your plant is in vegetation. You can purchase a cheap 12v timer for your lights once you change your light cycle. Hopefully we will all be free by then and can get back to normal life 🙂
