The Social Side of Cannabis

I’m sure most of us have seen the movies where the two guys are sitting on the couch smoking some weed and eating everything in site while making slow drooling conversation like a long haired surfy discussing meaningless observations about life.

While this has an element of truth to it, the reality is a lot of everyday people smoke, eat, and vape cannabis without this kind of behavior. Cannabis is in fact like choosing a good wine should you have the luxury of doing so. Unfortunately here in New Zealand this is not the case as due to prohibition most people will buy what they can get their hands on when it comes to cannabis.

In countries where cannabis is now legal you have a vast range of strain options giving the buyer the ability to purchase a strain that suits their social or medicinal requirements.

People have been ingesting cannabis socially for years and some prefer cannabis to alcohol for several reasons. You tend to feel more in control when ingesting cannabis than you do when drinking too much alcohol. Cannabis can be better for you health wise over alcohol. There have been no deaths recorded that are related to cannabis use. It is impossible to overdose on cannabis.

  • Excessive alcohol use led to approximately 88,000 deaths and 2.5 million years of potential life lost (YPLL) each year in the United States from 2006 – 2010, shortening the lives of those who died by an average of 30 years.
